Halal Assurance

WHL’s mission is to provide an independent, assured and efficient Halal Audits and Inspections for the local Halal industry. WHL’s Halal Assurance services include the following three main areas:

  • Certification Audits
  • Periodic Inspections
  • Food Verification and Ritual Cleansing

Certification Audits

WHL is appointed by Muis to conduct Certification Audits on companies for new application or renewal of the Halal Certificates. As required by Muis, these companies need to be assessed to ensure that their premises comply with the standards set by Muis before they are issued or re-issued with the Halal Certificates. Throughout the Certification Audits, companies will undergo a broad examination of their work environment and premises as stated by the schemes that they are applying. The results of the Audits will depend on whether the companies have complied with Muis Halal Certification Conditions. For more information, please visit www.muis.gov.sg.

Periodic Inspections

WHL conducts Periodic Inspections in a strict and confidential manner. Our Halal inspection team - who is professionally trained by Muis - executes these unannounced Periodic Inspections on a daily basis to ensure compliance at Muis Halal-certified premises. All inspected premises must comply with the HalMQ System by providing the relevant required documents in accordance to the Halal Periodic Inspection Checklist. For more information, please visit www.muis.gov.sg.

WHL conducts more than 11,000 Halal Audits and Inspections annually to strengthen compliance with Muis Halal Certification.

Food Verification and Ritual Cleansing

WHL is appointed by Muis to provide ad-hoc Halal services such as Food Verification and Ritual Cleansing in Singapore. Regarding to Food Verification, WHL verifies and confirms that foods and its ingredients and/or beverages served to Muslims - during social functions such as luncheons, weddings, seminars and corporate gatherings organised in hotels, exhibition halls or outdoor locations - are Halal in accordance with the Islamic law. Furthermore, pertaining to Ritual Cleansing, WHL will check and attest that all premises and equipment used to prepare foods and beverages such as kitchen and utensils are uncontaminated with non-Halal food and can be used by Muslim customers. In order to comply with Muis Halal Certification Conditions, Ritual Cleansing is an essential requirement for all premises and equipment that come into direct contact with non-Halal food such as pork.
